Description
Product Overview
RPI4-MODBP-8GB is a SBC. This Raspberry Pi 4 model B offers ground-breaking increases in processor speed, multimedia performance, memory and connectivity compared to the prior-generation Raspberry Pi 3 Model B+, while retaining backwards compatibility and similar power consumption. For the end user, the model provides desktop performance comparable to entry-level x86 PC systems. Some key features include a high-performance 64-bit quad-core processor, dual-display support at resolutions up to 4K via a pair of micro-HDMI ports, hardware video decode at up to 4Kp60, 8GB of RAM, dual-band 2.4/5GHz wireless LAN, Bluetooth 5.0, Gigabit Ethernet, USB 3.0 and PoE capability (via a separate PoE HAT add-on). The dual-band wireless LAN and Bluetooth have modular compliance certification, allowing the board to be designed into end products with significantly reduced compliance testing, improving both cost and time to market.

Product Highlights
-
Massive Memory Capacity: The 8GB LPDDR4 RAM allows you to run multiple complex applications, large databases, or numerous browser tabs simultaneously without compromising stability. It is the preferred choice for those running memory-heavy Linux distributions or server-side software.
-
Desktop-Class Performance: With processing speeds comparable to entry-level x86 PCs, the Raspberry Pi 4 provides a snappy and responsive experience for web browsing, office productivity, and software development.
-
Dual 4K Display Support: The dual micro-HDMI ports allow you to connect two 4K monitors simultaneously, making it an excellent solution for digital signage, multi-monitor workstations, or advanced media streaming.
-
High-Speed Networking: Unlike previous generations, the Pi 4 features true Gigabit Ethernet, removing bottlenecks for network-attached storage (NAS) or heavy data-transfer applications.
-
Robust Ecosystem: Being “Made in the UK” ensures the highest quality standards. It retains the signature 40-pin GPIO header, making it fully compatible with thousands of existing HATs, sensors, and hardware accessories developed over the years.
-
Future-Proof Development: With a production lifetime extended through at least January 2034, this board is a reliable investment for long-term commercial and industrial projects.
Important Notes for Users
64-bit Operating System: To fully utilize all 8GB of RAM, it is highly recommended to install a 64-bit operating system (such as the 64-bit version of Raspberry Pi OS).
Power Requirements: To ensure peak performance and prevent power-throttling, always use a high-quality 15W (5V/3A) USB-C power supply.
Thermal Management: Because of its high performance, the processor can generate significant heat under heavy loads. It is strongly recommended to use a heatsink or an active cooling solution (fan) if you plan to run intensive tasks for extended periods.
Whether you are a developer looking to build a portable workstation, a network administrator setting up a server, or a hobbyist pushing the limits of single-board computing, the Raspberry Pi 4 8GB offers the performance and reliability you need.
