The 4094 IC 8-Stage Serial Shift Register DIP-16 is a versatile CMOS logic integrated circuit designed to perform efficient serial-to-parallel data shifting and storage in digital systems. It integrates an eight-stage shift register with a corresponding latch for each stage, enabling data entered serially at the data input pin to be captured and presented simultaneously at the parallel output pins. Data is transferred through the shift register on the positive edge of the clock input, and when the STROBE input is asserted, the data stored within the shift register is transferred to the storage latches. The latched data appears at the parallel outputs when the OUTPUT ENABLE pin is driven high, and these outputs are implemented with three-state buffers, allowing direct connection to shared bus systems without interference.
